How-to guides
Learn Si-Des Meet in minutes
Short, illustrated guides for everyone joining or hosting a meeting.
Join a meeting
From any browser — no install needed.
Open the invite link, or enter the meeting code.
Type your name, then check your camera and microphone.
Press Join Room. If a waiting room is on, the host lets you in.
Start an encrypted meeting
Protect a sensitive conversation so that only the people in it can hear or read it.
On the join screen, keep “End-to-end encrypt this meeting” switched on, then join.
Open the lock badge, copy the secure invite link and send it privately. The long part after # is the key, so do not shorten or edit the link.
When everyone is in, read the safety code aloud. If all codes match, you share the same key. The AI assistant is not available in encrypted meetings.
Use the controls
Everything sits in the bar at the bottom.
Tap the mic and camera to switch them on or off.
Share your screen, raise your hand or send a reaction.
Open Chat, Polls, Q&A and more from the tools menu; the red button leaves the meeting.
Chat, polls and Q&A
Talk, vote and ask without leaving the call.
Open Chat to message everyone, or one person privately.
The host starts a poll; everyone votes and sees live results.
Post a question in Q&A; others can upvote it and the host answers.
Use live captions with translation
Follow a conversation in your own language, even when others speak another one.
Choose your language in the language menu so translations arrive in it.
In the room, switch captions on and speak. Everyone sees your words as text.
In the chat, choose Translate under a message or turn on automatic translation. In encrypted meetings, translation through our server asks for your permission first.
Draw on the whiteboard
A shared board — on phones too.
Open Whiteboard from the tools menu.
Pick a pen, shape or colour and draw — everyone sees it live.
Undo, or save the board as an image. On a phone the tools sit in a bar under the board.
Walk through the Virtual house
Voices get louder as you get closer.
Choose Virtual house in Layout. Move with the arrow keys or WASD, or tap the floor.
You only hear people in your room. Use the doors to go between rooms.
Hosts press Edit house to move rooms, resize the whole house and set music per room.
Meet in Conference VR
A shared space with a big screen.
Choose Conference VR in Layout; the host picks the setting and seating.
Click a chair to sit, press X to stand, or walk to another spot.
Use the screen bar to share, open the whiteboard, or hide the screen.
Invite people into a room
Bring everyone, or just a few, into the layout.
In the Virtual house or Conference VR, press Invite.
Choose Everyone or pick people, then choose where to take them.
They tap Join and arrive. Hosts can switch on Bring them now to move people without asking.
Hands-free gestures
Control the meeting with your hand.
Turn on gesture controls in Settings → Accessibility, with your camera on.
Hold a gesture about a second: open palm raises your hand, thumbs up sends 👍.
Switch on Spelling mode to sign letters and send the word to the chat.
Stay safe
You are in control of your space.
Open Participants and press the flag beside a person to report them.
Hosts can mute, remove or end the meeting for everyone.
Abusive words in chat are hidden automatically.
Use your phone as a second camera
Add a second angle, such as a document or whiteboard, from a phone you already have in your hand.
In the meeting, open the menu and choose “Use phone as camera”. A QR code appears.
Scan it with your phone. The pairing key is short-lived and only works for someone already inside the meeting, so it cannot be used to skip the waiting room.
Allow camera access on the phone. Its video appears as an extra tile and is never mirrored for others.
Install the Android app
Host and join meetings from your phone with native video, encryption and a low-data mode.
On your phone, open the Downloads page and tap the Android APK.
Allow installs from your browser when Android asks, open the downloaded file and tap Install.
Open the app, confirm the server address if asked, then join with a link or scan a meeting QR code.
On phones and tablets
Made to work on small screens.
Your screen stays awake in a meeting, and the call keeps running if you switch apps for a moment.
Panels open full screen and scroll; the close button stays at the top.
Turn your phone sideways for a bigger video or whiteboard.
